About Hammersmith

The 2010 General Election will see a new constituency for Hammersmith. As a result of boundary changes the two existing constituencies of Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea will be replaced by three new parliamentary seats. Whoever wins the election, Hammersmith will have a new M.P. as the present Hammersmith and Fulham member, Conservative Greg Hands, has chosen to stand in the new seat of Chelsea and Fulham.

The new Constituency of Hammersmith is very much a tale of two cities: areas of increasing wealth brought about by high property prices versus pockets where social rented properties predominate.

How will the new Tory controlled Council manage to reduce Council tax without compromising on the delivery of public services? The answer is that they can't. Budget cuts in Children's services, higher care charges and even new charges for green waste collection bear witness.

The Liberal Democrat voice is needed more than ever before and I will work to highlight instances of injustice and the needs of local people.
